What is the difference between the Level 4 Extended Diploma and the Accelerated Industry Year?

Whilst both programmes are designed for performers aged 18+, they have been created for very different purposes and career goals.

Accelerated Industry Year

The Accelerated Industry Year is BASE's flagship industry-focused training programme for performers who feel they are close to being ready for the professional industry and want one final year of intensive preparation before pursuing work opportunities.

As the programme is not qualification-led, the timetable can be entirely focused on practical training, performance projects, industry knowledge, professional development, guest creatives, and building the skills required to transition into professional employment.

For students whose primary goal is to maximise industry-focused training, performance opportunities, professional networking, and preparation for entering the industry as quickly as possible, the Accelerated Industry Year remains our most intensive and industry-driven programme.

Level 4 Extended Diploma

The RSL Level 4 Extended Diploma is a recognised higher-level qualification equivalent in academic level to the first year of a university degree.

Whilst the programme still includes practical training and professional development, students are also required to complete qualification units, coursework, research, and project-based assessment as part of the qualification.

The programme is designed for students who wish to continue their formal education whilst developing their creative, professional, and entrepreneurial skills within the performing arts industry.

Which Course Is Right For Me?

Choose the Accelerated Industry Year if you:

• Want the most intensive industry-focused training possible

• Are aiming to enter the industry quickly
